Law: How can someone find out if they have any outstanding warrants?
So, it is easy to see how you could have a warrant out on you, and could possibly have had for some time, without you really knowing it. It is a sobering thought; that little speeding ticket you picked up a few years ago could come back to haunt you.A more proactive approach is always the best option when it comes to matters like this, so you are probably wondering if it is possible to find out if you have any outstanding warrants in your name. The simple answer is yes, but the process is far from simple. For instance, you can search online for your state's, county's, or city's official website, and look for a warrant search. However, not all states, counties or cities have warrant databases available online. You should also be very wary of illegitimate sites attempting to pass themselves off as official government sites, especially when entering your personal details. Any official government site will end in '.gov' and not '.com'.There are plenty of 3rd party websites that can offer a warrant search, some are premium service and others can offer a reduced search for free.consequencesIf you know the court which you suspect may have issued a warrant, you can contact the warrant officer at that courthouse, or get a warrant officer at any courthouse in that state to perform a state-wide database search.

They cannot restrain themselves, have no guilt in the heat of the moment, and forget about any consequences that their actions may attraThis is the reason people should get criminal record checked before meeting strangers or getting married to a stranger. In both countries, the states have primary authority over creation, disclosure, use and collateral consequences of criminal records, albeit within a basic national framework. The challenge is also that many Indians share the same name. Government is taking steps to give a particular number to every individual i.e aadhar card.Courts provide the other important source of criminal records. State laws govern access to and disclosure of court records. While trial court judgments are public, court files are not. Even the defendant needs the court’s permission to see the file, and special permission to copy it. A third party would have to petition the chief judge. Criminal judgments are increasingly available to the public via e-court system databases and private databases. The e-courts website is in English, while the judgment is uploaded in the local language used by the trial court’s. High court and Supreme Court case judgments are sold to and reported by private publishers. It is not common for employers to ask job applicants to disclose criminal convictions, Companies rarely conduct background check on employees in India. As a police officer, have you ever encountered a cocky civilian who later got what they deserved? In your professional opinion, would the individual in question be a likely repeat offender?
A few come to mind.#1 - In the late 1980’s, there were certain neighborhood intersections in South Central Los Angeles/Compton area where you could find two to ten guys on all four corners slinging crack cocaine. There was always a rock house within a house, or two, of the intersection. These houses were identifiable, by the barred windows, metal security gates on the front door and an enclosed, barred up front porch, further protecting the security door. And there were also at least a half dozen hoods hanging out in the yard. One day we tried jamming the guys who were selling crack. Everyone who was holding, which was almost everyone, ran to the rock house and were let in, then the front porch gate and security door were slammed shut. That left us with a couple of crackheads to search. They had nothing on them, because we had interrupted their purchases. We were running them for warrants, when the guy who owned the house, decided to come striding out to us.This guy had a big grin on his face and mock innocently asked, “Oh deputies, did you want to talk to me? I had to run into the house for a minute.”, then he snickered and automatically put his hands on the hood of our car, moved his legs back and spread his feet, saying, “Go ahead and search me.” I knew damn well, I wasn’t going to find anything on him, but I searched him anyway. Lo and behold, He had a rock about the size of a gumball in his pocket. As soon as I felt it and realized what it was, he also realized what it was, because his whole body language changed from one of total confidence to one of total defeat.I hooked him up, pulled out the rock, so he could see it, with a big smile on my face. The guy looked at it, shook his head and kind of chuckled, as he said, “Man, I came out to clown you guys and look who ended up lookin’ like a fool. You got me.” He took it really well and was friendly the whole way back. But that was back when our gangsters were stand up guys and not a bunch of wannabe crybabies, yelling for their friends to, “Call my momma!”, when the cops arrested them. So, even though this guy was cocky and got his comeuppance for it, I had a lot of respect for him smiling about it. Likelihood of being a repeat offender = 100%#2 - In the early 1980’s, we had a crip gang in a upper middle class neighborhood of our city. The homeowners were professional people, business owners and college grads. But the neighborhood was just a mile, or so, from the city of Compton, and ganster rap was big, as were the accompanying videos, so a lot of their kids wanted to be gangsters. The gangs in Compton and the rest of our city, thought of them as wannabes and pooh butts, because they were considered “rich kids”, who were “play banging”. Eventually they did up their game and committed several armored car robberies, in the 1990’s, where they would just execute the guards.Anyway, in the mid 1990’s, one of this gang’s members was named, “Fat Jody”. He was fat and his name was Jody, so there wasn’t a lot of imagination that went into the name. Anytime he was stopped he would have a smirk on his face. One of his homies wiped that smirk off of his face by putting a bullet in the back of his head and spattering his teeth across the front windshield of the car they were in. I know a lot of gangsters that got killed during my 29 years at that station, almost all were worse than Fat Jody, but Fat Jody was the only one who, for some reason, made me smirk when I heard he’d been killed. Maybe, it’s because I had absolutely no respect for Fat Jody. He let the other fools in his gang do stuff and try to bask in the glory of whatever numbskull stunt they were involved in, without taking part in it himself. Likelihood of being a repeat offender = 0%Then there was two deputies.Deputy #1 - I went to the academy with this guy. The way the academy works is, you are in the academy for 40 hours a week for 6 months. The classes are broken into about 50 minute blocks of instruction. Then you get a 10 minute break, and you get a 60 minute lunch break. Lunch does not count as part of your 8 hour day.During breaks, this guy would act like the class know-it-all. But at the end of every block of instruction, when the instructors would ask if there were any questions, this dipshit would always have several questions. Every minute spent on his stupid questions was a minute taken away from our break time. And they were stupid questions, that we all knew he knew the answer to, because we all knew the answer to them. He just wanted to be noticed. Here’s a tip for any of you fixing to join a law enforcement academy. You can be the question cadet, or you can be the class know-it-all. You can’t be both. It doesn’t make any logical sense. So we graduated and on the sheriff’s department your first assignment was the jails. We spent about 30 months working the jails, before being assigned to a station. Before you go to a station, you go to a 2 week refresher course called Patrol School. Once again, Dipshit was the question cadet and the class know-it-all. During breaks the deputies would gather into groups according to the station they were being assigned to. Our group had eleven deputies all going to Carson Station. During the breaks, guys would ask each other things like,Typical Conversation 1“Hey, how do you get your boots so shiny?”“Well I heat the wax before I put it on, and I keep a cup of ice water to wet my polishing rag.”“I keep a piece of pantyhose in my pocket to shine out any scuffs”Dipshit would interrupt with, “Pfffft, you don’t need to worry about polishing your boots. Patrol deputies don’t polish their boots.”“Yeeahhh, I think that’s a secret they only want you to know.”Typical Conversation 2“Hey, what do you have in your war bag?”“I have blah blah blah….”“I have blah blah blah….”Dipshit would interrupt with, “Pfffft, you don’t need to worry about any of that stuff. Your Training Officer will have everything you need.”“Yeeahhh, you go ahead with that then.”So we got to our station and Dipshit was assigned to an FTO named Keith Kodera. Kodera had a reputation as a terror unleashed by the devil on trainees. Within a month, or so, Kodera had kicked Dipshit out of the car at least twice. Oh, and much to Dipshit’s surprise, Kodera reamed his ass for having unshined boots and, surprise, surprise, Kodera did expect Dipshit to have his own supplies and gear in his war bag. What an idiot. Likelihood of being a repeat offender = 100%Deputy #2 - I wrote about this guy in another answer and I don’t want to get into the whole thing, this answer is already long enough. Suffice it to say, I didn’t think much of him as a cop. I would not have trusted him to risk his ass for me. One day, after he had gotten off of training, he was working the front desk on the grave yard shift. He was kicked back on a personal phone call, when a guy came into the station lobby, obviously upset. He tried several times to get the deputy to answer a question, but the deputy, just kept blowing him off, as he continued to talk on the phone.Well that didn’t do much to soothe the upset fellow. Mr. Upset, became Mr. Pissed Off, drew a gun and started capping rounds off at Deputy Dumbass. The first round skipped across his back, which caused him to drop his feet from his desk and sit up straight. The second round went through Deputy Dipshit’s left bicep, then hit the pen in Dipshit’s left breast pocket. The pen tore through the shirt and went flying into Dipshit’s right bicep. Now both of his arms were useless, but Mr. Pissed Off wasn’t out of rounds and was still pissed off. As the rounds kept coming, Dipshit hit on the brilliant plan of hitting the deck and rolling around to avoid being hit by bullets. In his panicked state, I’m not sure if he confused, “running for cover”, with, “duck and cover”, or, “being under fire”, with, “being on fire”. In either case, wrong response, because Mr. Pissed Off just leaned over the lobby counter and continued firing down.Lucky for Dipshit, Deputy Scott Orr, Deputy Jon Brick and Deputy Aaron Bartsch were a few feet away, behind the one way glass of the dispatch office. Orr was closest to the door and went through it firing. He walked toward the gunman firing, forcing the gunman to redirect his fire at Deputy Orr, Deputy Brick leaned out the door and also began firing, while Deputy Orr continued walking toward the gunman and Dipshit. Deputy Bartsch couldn’t get past Deputy Brick, so he decided to see if the dispatch office’s bullet proof glass was bullet proof on both sides. Turned out it was, so he changed his plan to letting the station and field units know there was a gunfight in the station lobby and one deputy was down.Deputy Orr signNowed Dipshit, bent over and grabbed him by the collar with one hand, and dragged him back toward the dispatch office, as he and Deputy Brick continued to fire. The suspect died on the lobby floor. Dipshit retired medically. Likelihood of being a repeat offender = 0%The more detailed answer is under my response to What is the greatest episode of Karmic Justice you've ever witnessed?

What is the best way to find out if someone has a warrant for an arrest?
Simple.Call the nearest police station on their non emergency number and ask. They’ll run a check and tell you. They’ll also be able to tell you how much bail money you’ll need to stay out of jail until your court date so you can make arrangements. The police appreciate it when a person with a warrant voluntarily turns themselves in as do the judges when the case comes to court. It can make a difference if you’re found guilty and fined or sentenced to do some jail time.

How can you get a job with a warrant out for your arrest?
For searching for records on the web go to aarc-people-search.com Its both general public as well as non-public information. It goes over and above what a single resource can do for you or what engines like google can provide you with. You will have entry to public information, social websites analysis, a all round world wide web research, court public records, criminal offender records, mobile phone data (both open public and exclusive repositories ), driving information and a lot more. How can you get a job with a warrant out for your arrest? This may sound harsh, but it's not meant to be. When it comes to whether a defendant gets arrested, there is no such thing technically as a "non arrest warrant", and in any event a defendant does not have choice about whether an arrest warrant is issued. The alternative way of hauling a defendant into court to answer a criminal charge is a "summons".Can a defendant get a job while there's an arrest warrant out for him or her? Sure, if the employer is willing to hire the defendant. A better idea is to interview several lawyers - first consults about criminal cases are usually free - and see if you can work out a payment plan that you can deal with.I agree. Law enforcement has every right to arrest you with an active warrant, and this is independent from a prospective employer's rights or ability to hire you. Whether your prospective employer will hire you with an active warrant and pending criminal charge is up to the employer. Remember to answer all questions on the employment application honestly regarding your criminal history. You should also be aware that should you be stopped for a traffic violation, then the officer will be notified of your pending warrant and will likely arrest you for the warrant even if you do not receive a traffic ticket. Your best option is to hire a lawyer and a bondsman. If you have no criminal history, your bond for a Class B misdemeanor should be very low.

How can you find out if there's a warrant out for your arrest? I got issued a citation, and was told that if I didn't pay it, they would then issue a warrant. Would this warrant only be active the County, or in the whole state/country?
You should be able to contact the suspected jurisdiction, contact their court clerk. Give them your name, DOB and current address at which time they will check the NCIC database and let you know.Do you believe you might?Be careful, if you do and it’s a biggy, don’t be surprised if they come looking for you.So, if you do have one, the best course of action is usually to go to the courthouse, turn yourself in at which time they will arrest you, arraign you, and either give you a bail amount or release you on your own recognizance. However, if you have a record of FTA (Failure To Appear) to court dates, you may be held for bail or your next court date which could be weeks to months down the road.Or if you have the means, contact either a private attorney who will charge you anywhere from $150.00 an hour all the up to $1500.00 an hour. Or you can contact the Public Defenders office, make an appointment to be interviewed and see if you qualify for a court appointed attorney. Remember, a Public Defender is an attorney hired by the county or the state that is grossly overworked and fresh out of law school. Their only function is to appease the courts by making sure you are represented by a licensed attorney. Unfortunately there is nothing in the law that says he must be competent or have enough time to properly defend you in an effort to keep you from doing much time. They jokingly nick name these attorneys as Public Pretenders as like I said, they are overworked and under experienced. Generally their function is to plea-bargain your case, and to keep you from asking for a very expensive full blown trial and saving the state tons and tons of money, all the while getting you to plead guilty for a shorter sentence. This form of justice serves many purposes. First and foremost, like I said, the state saves money, the Public Defenders, who are employed by the state get real time/real life experience and the horribly overcrowded justice systems wheels keep on slipping, slipping, slipping- into the future!Anyway, that would be the way!

How do I check for arrest warrants?
Call your local Police Station. This might sound counterintuitive but the Officer (or Detective) isn't going to signNow through the phone to get you!Further, if you do in fact have a Warrant, would you rather be picked up at your home, place of business or in your car, possibly in the presence of your friends, family and children?!No, instead talk to the Detective in charge of your case. Arrange a time to surrender yourself asking him, ‘if you come in early can you see a Judge the same day?’That's your end game, NOT to spend 1 minute in Jail!!I always recommend that you take Friday off from work (Monday too!) Arrange to surrender yourself early Friday morning. If things go wrong and you do have to spend the night, at least you've minimized your time in jail and you don't have to let work know. In other words you're controlling a bad situation!Remember, this is NEVER going away. You can run but you can't hide!!Call a lawyer because chances are you're not going to represent yourself if it's a Criminal matter (If it's something like not paying a ticket, you may not need one).If you can't afford one, call legal aid ahead of time. The most important thing is that you do something. Doing nothing… You'll wind up n you getting picked up and spending at least one night in jail and inevitably, embarrass and inconvenience you!!

How do you get to do a police ride-along?
It all depends on the Dept you are wanting to ride with. The Dept I work for is a small one we only have 4 or 5 Officers on duty at a given time but we do allow ride alongs for those intrested in the field or are students at the local anniversary criminal justice program. The way our ride along works is you simply call our Dept Non-Emergency number and talk to the dispatcher who will forward your call to the boss on duty who will ask you a few questions such as Why you want to go on a ride along, Have you ever been arrested on felony charges ect.Once that part of the process is complete he will then set up a date and time for you to come in and go on your ride along on the day of your ride along you will be asked if you have a specific Officer you want to ride with or in a specific district if so the boss on duty will assign you to them or to someone at random.Another Dept that I worked for a brief period of time for with 100 + Officer do it a difference way.The way they do it is you have to go into the Station and tell them you want to go on a ride along the Officer at the front desk will then tell you where you need to go and once you get to that office you will be given a form to fill out the form will ask for your personal information such as Name, Address, DOB. Phone Number and If you’ve ever been arrested and if so what for?Once you’ve filled out the form it will then be sent upstairs to the Watch Commanders Office where your application will be reviewed and you will undergo a basic background check for any felonies and wants/warrants and to make sure you haven’t been on a ride along within the last 12 months, Once everything has cleared, They will call you and tell you that you have been approved and can come in on whatever shift you’d like within the next 30 days or you will have to reapply.Once you arrive for your ride along you will be given another paper to fill out such as an ICE form and Medical Insurance information and sign a paper that exempts the Dept from any damages in case of injury/death while on the ride along.Once all of that is done you are taken into the Roll Call room where you get to hear the daily briefing on incident from previous shift and any wanted people and BOLO’s once all that is finished the Watch Commander might just assign you to a car sometimes it’s a single rider or a double rider car others will ask you if you have a preference of Officer(s) or specific area in either case I would suggest taking some padding as the backseats can be hell on your ass over 8 hours. All Dept have their own process on how to deal with it some let you come in, do a background check and ride with an officer on the same day others require a waiting period to check your background and some like mine require an appt to ride but also remember not all Dept allow for ride alongs either.
